the best summer ever...well, just the beginning.

welcome to my world of adventures...this summer is going to be epic. I am currently up in the mountains of Colorado working for the YMCA! I am the family programs coordinator and along with 11 other staff, I have the best job ever! I have been here at Snow Mountain Ranch for 1 week and have gotten paid to:
-zip line
-rock climb
-hike
-ropes courses
-archery
-play minute to win it
-more hiking
-listen to music for hours on end
-and just plain have fun!

And this is what I will be doing all summer long. You should be jealous.

outdoor adventure trip: moab!

I made this video for my final project in my outdoor adventure class. This was one of the most fun classes I have ever taken...I wish I would have taken it every semester!

environmental ed. center: snow-shoeing.

For my outdoor education class we went up to the environmental education center to see what type of resources they have there and what they provide to school age children. A few of us needed to leave earlier than the rest, so instead of cross-country skiing we went on a little snow-shoeing trip.

tyrolean traverse.

Oh the fun things we do in my outdoor education class. We build a tyrolean traverse as a team building activity. This was actually really fun to do. I walked across this river a few times...a little cold. Then I was able to actually go across on the ropes.

bear lake jubilee.

Every year, for the last six years, a few crazy people venture up to Bear Lake and jump into the freezing cold lake. We have done this to celebrate my friend Juber's birthday. This year was the big 30th! After last years frost-bite incident and just getting over being really sick, I decided to opt out of the getting wet part. I was there to show my support and to document! 

Yep. The lake was frozen this year.

igloo making: the attempt.

For my outdoor adventure class we attempted to make an igloo. The snow was really unpredictable and cutting the blocks for the igloo was not very easy. We had fun anyways!
